Aptadir Therapeutics is a preclinical biotech company developing a novel class of RNA inhibitor-based therapeutics for intractable cancers and genetic conditions. The Company's platform is built on the discovery of DNMTs Interacting RNAs (DiRs), a new class of RNA molecules capable of blocking aberrant DNA methylation at a single-gene level and reactivating genes that are silenced in disease. Aptadir's lead program, CAP1-FMR1, targets Fragile X Syndrome, a genetic condition causing intellectual disability and developmental delays due to silencing of the FMR1 gene; the pipeline also extends to other underserved cancers and rare genetic disorders, including Myelodysplastic Syndrome. The underlying science originates from an international group of researchers at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Italy's National Research Council (CNR), and the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore. Led by CEO Giovanni Amabile, Aptadir is based in Milan and closed one of Europe's largest biotech seed rounds, led by 4BIO Capital with follow-on investment from EXTEND, the Italian technology transfer hub co-funded by Angelini Ventures.
