Angelini Ventures co-leads $58M Series A in RougeTx to advance first-in-class HHT treatment

Angelini Ventures has co-led a $58M Series A financing in RougeTx, a preclinical-stage biotechnology company developing first-in-class, disease-modifying therapies designed to restore vascular integrity by targeting pericyte dysfunction.

The financing will advance RTX-001, RougeTx's lead program, toward first-in-human clinical development for hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) — the second most common inherited bleeding disorder, caused by abnormal blood vessel formation that can lead to recurrent bleeding, chronic anemia and, in some cases, serious complications affecting major organs. There are currently no approved therapies for HHT, and patients rely largely on supportive care. Through its periSCOPE platform, RougeTx is also applying its understanding of vascular biology to identify treatment opportunities in other diseases driven by vascular instability.

The round, which also marks Angelini Ventures' first investment in the Netherlands, was supported by the European Investment Bank through the Aurea co-investment vehicle — the fourth deal under the two organizations' €150M partnership in under 12 months.

RougeTx is taking an innovative and highly differentiated approach to vascular disease by focusing on the critical role of pericytes in maintaining blood vessel stability — this is very different to other treatment paradigms in the field. RTX-001 has the potential to provide a new treatment option for people living with HHT, while exploiting the novel underlying biology opens up opportunities in other diseases marked by vascular instability.
