EIB-Angelini Ventures Partnership Reaches €68.5 Million with New Investment in MMI

Angelini Ventures and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have announced a €17 million co-investment in MMI (Medical Microinstruments), the Italian-American company behind the Symani Surgical System — a robotic platform built around some of the smallest wristed microinstruments in the world, enabling precision microsurgery and supermicrosurgery on structures as small as 0.1mm.

The investment is the third completed under the EIB-Angelini Ventures partnership, a €150 million initiative launched in December 2025 to co-fund European startups in biotech, medtech, and digital health — following earlier investments in ADCytherix and Nuclidium. With this round, the partnership's total investments and commitments reach €68.5 million, with two further deals worth roughly €20 million already in the works and around €100 million expected to be deployed by early 2027.
